HOA MEETING 03/24/10

The HOA meeting this past week was both interesting and enlightening.

As the meeting came to order, the minutes of the past meeting were adjusted and the treasury report was read.  Discussions of  a new landscaper took up quite a bit of time.  It was very interesting to me that our president, Dolores Thompson, came to the table with options on new landscapers that are less expensive and would do a more thorough job as she was met with oppositions from other board members.  The treasure is reading the treasury report and claiming that the Association is broke and here was an idea on how to save money.

I would like to thank the additional 5 neighbors that showed up to the meeting!  It was great to see more people getting involved!  One of the attendees is on the AC Committee and turned in a formal complaint about on AC unit mounted on a flat, non-tiled roof.  Other members expressed concerns about our inspector and the numerous mistakes that are made on a consistent basis.  These mistakes are causing stress and aggravation to homeowners.  I happen to be one of those people.

This is a "homeowner" meeting.  It was voiced to me by all attendee's that they are really ticked about the "secret" part of the meeting.  By Arizona state law, the board members may choose to close a portion of the meeting to consider legal advice from an attorney, pending or contemplated litigation, and personal, health or financial information about an individual member.  It seemed to many of us that maybe there is more to those meetings.

Homeowners are now allowed to speak for only 3 minutes, each.  When it was my time to speak about what I wanted to speak about I was met with consistent and continual interruptions from Kate at Jomar and Darren our secretary because they did not like what I had to say.  It was my 3 minutes and if that is all the time that we are allowed to voice our opinions' at our "homeowners" meeting, we should be allowed to say what ever we want about any subject uninterrupted!!!!  Jomar works for the members and is there to take direction from the board.  Not to dictate the meeting and its members!!!

The members that show up to meetings should be given a copy of the minutes of the prior meeting, a copy of the agenda and a copy of the treasure's report.  Jomar is paid a whole lot of money and should provide us with this information.  It's our money and we want to see where it is going.

Every homeowner that came to the meeting had great input and great ideas!  We need more input!!!!!!  Post Away!!

This is a matter that concerns me. The A/C unit in question is unsightly in addition to being disallowed by the CC&R's..

Additionally, in the Guidelines for Architectural Improvements, I quote from page 11,
Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Units, Including Evaporative Coolers:

"All units must be located within the perimeter of the backyard and BELOW the fence line".

It has come to my understanding that this residence is owned by a Board Member, so it is doubly troubling that such a person, who would have intimate knowledge of the HOA rules, would knowingly go ahead with such construction as if the rules did not pertain to that Member?????

This matter needs to be followed and monitored.
