Expressing Frustrations on the Web

I understand the level of frustration everyone has with the home association fees and lack of communication.  I personally have had communication with the HOA about several issues.  However, I personally have concerns about the use of this website to express frustrations and the impact this may have on resell value of our homes.  We are in a market in which home values and buyers are lacking.  Most home buyers are actively using the Internet to find information about homes for sale.  Would you be excited to have a deal for your house fall through or the value renegotiated due to reservations the buyer has after reading the large variety of complaints on this website?

PS:  Someone complained about the Christmas lights in my backyard.  If you had come and spoken with me personally - I would have taken them down.  They were hanging in an area of the backyard that was hidden from most of the neighborhood.  I like having the lights up as they provide a lower level of light when I'm reading outside at night.  I didn't realize I had offended someone.  I removed the lights prior to this email.

I think it's awful that someone complained about lights in your backyard. Lights in the backyard, even Christmas lights are used nowadays as "decor". I think there is a huge difference from lights up in the front of the house and "lights" up in the backyard. Seriously, that is pretty sad.

Small lights in your own back yard causing a problem???? Amazing what some folks complain about.....I'm shaking my head.

Lets get some positive energy and kindness going within our community! I know we can do it! A recent example of this is the (family sponsored) activity someone posted on the mailbox for an Easter Egg Hunt for the children of Sierra Ridge and Casa Norte. My kudos to that family for extending such a lovely act of kindness.

Maybe we could step up and schedule a community block party.....children decorating their bikes and having a parade.....people just getting together....getting to know one another...it would strengthen that sense of community that we may be lacking and who knows.....it could lead to people seeking out our community to move to!

I agree with Gloria and love the idea of community events. If a block party or other gathering was organized, I’d volunteer to provide some short public safety instructional demonstrations if anyone is interested. A few topics that come to mind:

1.) Facts, myths, testing, maintenance, etc. of your residential fire sprinkler systems.

2.) Quick, easy and EFFECTIVE CPR techniques and what to do until 911 arrives.

I’m definitely no event organizer but would certainly be happy to participate.
