I’d like to take a
moment to thank Larry & Chris for taking the initiative to create
this means of candid communication amongst neighbors. This is LONG
overdue and (if used properly) a fantastic venue for us to reverse
the rolls that have been so out of whack for so very long.
I built my home in Sierra Ridge 16 ½ years ago and am proud to have
been here from the very beginning of our community’s history. I’ve
seen many neighbors come and go; some were wonderful and a great
loss as they moved along and some we couldn’t wait to get rid of. My
family put up with a neighborhood (adult) bully for a couple years
of pure hell. It was SUCH a relief when these renters moved on so
those of us who had a vested interest in our community could get
back to enjoying the quality of life we expected in our community.
Jomar is a bully to this entire community. Because we “invited” them
in to our neighborhood they wander through acting as though they own
the place. They throw their weight around as they see fit. They
threaten, harass, intimidate and extort money just like any other
bully, given a chance. The shame of all this is technically they do
all this legally. WE put them here. It’s up to US to do something
about it.
I think this blog is going to be invaluable for us as a community to
collectively get our act together and make the changes necessary. We
need to collectively express our concerns and complaints and have a
venue to do it without fear of retribution. I know firsthand how
vindictive Jomar can be; having suffered the wrath on a few
occasions when I chose to stand up to them and cross swords.
Unfortunately we have allowed Jomar (and the board) to become TOO
powerful. We need strength in numbers, my friends and neighbors.
This is the only way we will be able to make changes that will
benefit us all and still maintain the integrity and aesthetics of
our beautiful community.
My caution as we move forward through this process is we don’t use
this blog as a means of pitting neighbor against neighbor. One of
the most common failures of an effort such as this is the “divide
and conquer” syndrome. We need to remain united as a community and
work TOGETHER to reign in or eradicate the “bully” that has most of
us cowering and fearful to speak up for fear of the spiteful
retaliation many of us know all too well that Jomar and to a lesser
degree our ELECTED board are capable of.
I’ve already seen a few shots taken at residents who were blindsided
by someone expressing a complaint here. Might I suggest
“communicating” in a neighborly fashion? An acceptable process of
initially dealing with ANY issue between people is to address it
directly. If you have genuinely tried to resolve issues with each
other only then should it escalate to a higher level. Also, besides
options such as complaining to the Board or Jomar, the city of
Scottsdale does offer “mediation” services for many issues between
neighbors.
It was a relief for once to find one of those “pesky” door hangars
on my door this weekend. I hope many of the owners of Sierra Ridge
will take the time to read the entries in this blog and realize they
aren’t alone in the way they’ve been treated. Even better, I hope
they will take the initiative to subscribe to this blog as I did
this weekend, and share their stories of interest with the rest of
the community. My bet is we will begin to see just how rampant this
organization has run, and that we DO need to create a course of
action that will make the changes we deserve.
Get involved and speak your mind. I’ll guarantee the Board is well
aware of this blog. You can also be assured Jomar will be advised,
and will most certainly closely monitor every entry posted here. I
personally am aware of one community in the Valley that has invited
the bully Jomar to pack their bags and leave. Maybe they will either
take notice and begin to work FOR us as was intended, or….not let
the door hit them in the ass on their way out. It’s up to us!! |
