Upon review of the facts
brought forth during the last three meetings regarding the
violations on lot 13, the architectural committee makes the
following recommendations:
1. Judy Sides should resign from the board. She was president during
this time period and voted to approve the flat roof and the a/c unit
on Darren Mowrey’s house addition. Mrs. Sides should have been
familiar with the CC&R’s which forbid any such construction on any
home in Sierra Ridge. As a board member, she should of never
approved the construction and Mr. Mowrey would not be facing legal
issues.
2. Darren Mowrey should resign from the board. It is a conflict of
interest to have such a blatant violation while serving on the
board. Mr. Mowrey does not deserve any special privileges. He
knowingly and willingly built the roof and knew it was in the wrong.
The rules are the same for all homeowners.
3. Jomar’s contract with Sierra Ridge HOA should be terminated. When
questioned about the violations, our property manager, Kate
Parlette, stated that the inspector was not able to see the roof
being built because the construction was on the back of the house
and not visible from the street. All requests for new construction
has to go through Jomar and then taken to the board for approval.
The flat roof at 11051 E. Sunnyside Drive took a minimum of three
months to build, so I guess that the inspector was looking for three
inch weeds on other homeowner’s front yards so that they could fine
them. I took a drive down 110th Way going south and stopped on the
corner of 110th Way and Sunnyside Drive, and you can clearly see the
flat roof from that vantage point. I wonder how many times Jomar has
looked the other way to favor board members. The advice and opinions
given by Jomar as off track on what is for the good of the
homeowner’s of Sierra Ridge. If nothing is done about these
violations, it is going to be hard to stop another homeowner from
also violating the CC&R’s. For example, since Mr. Mowrey built a
flat roof and put an a/c unit on top, why can’t another homeowner
paint their house green? This will result in the property values
declining.
